Guess who’s back… back again… Mitsubishi’s back and they’re bringing the Series 7 L200 pick-up truck with them! The latest generation of the popular pick-up will go on sale in the UK next year after a five-year absence – Mitsubishi stopped selling new cars here due to a global cost-cutting exercise. The company is also bringing back the Outlander PHEV SUV at the same time.
Return of the L200 pick-up truck
The L200 pick-up made its UK debut in the 1980s, available until 2021 when the sixth generation was withdrawn from the UK. Just five years later, the seventh generation is on its way to compete in a relatively crowded market with the latest Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max, new entrants like the GWM Poer300 and the upcoming ninth generation Toyota Hilux.
What do we know about the Series 7 L200?
The Series 7 L200 pick-up truck is powered by a 2.4-litre two-stage bi-turbo diesel engine with increased power and torque. It will feature a Super Select 4WD-II system offering a choice of two- and four-wheel drive, centre differential locked full-time four-wheel drive and low gear centre differential locked four-wheel drive. Drivers will benefit from the choice of seven terrain modes – Normal, ECO, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand, and Rock – for use on roads and tougher terrain. Pricing and launch dates will be confirmed closer to summer 2026.
